Thatcham Vision Youth Club Launch

Thatcham Vision Youth Club Team and Guests

In the summer of 2008, a 10-year old boy wrote a letter to Thatcham Vision, detailing how his older siblings had a youth club to go to and how he had searched for something for his age group of a similar nature, but found there was no youth club for him to socialise and meet new friends that catered for his age.

In the autumn of the same year, Thatcham Vision investigated the situation in Thatcham for his age group, and not only found that he was right, but also found that there was tremendous support from local schools and children in the area. So began work on feasibility studies, funding applications, discussions with partner organisations and interviews with potential youth workers.

Here we are nearly two years later with an exciting launch (30th April 2010) and a brand new facility and service for the junior school age young people of Thatcham.

Thatcham Vision Project Manager, Emma Samuel said "Despite the rain and the wind! It has taken a lot of effort to make it all come together, and you have all been there doing your bit, and I want you to know how much the Vision Steering Group appreciate it, and looking at the responses from the adults and children that were there, how much they will appreciate it in the future. Currently 22 people have signed and completed forms, 9 out there waiting to be sent back, and more interest via email. Special thanks to Naomi, the committee chair, for pulling it (and everyone) all together. "
